GHOST EVENT BACKDATED [AUDIO]

Hey, everyone, it's Drift. Um, something's... come up? I guess? It's probably not a huge deal, but uh...

[He sounds juuuuust a bit out of it, y'know like in the way someone who is terrified out of their mind might sound while trying to play it super cool at the same time. Man he is trying so hard to sound completely unbothered right now.]

Ah, well, the place Wing and I are staying is kind of completely surrounded by restless spirits. Is there a way to shoo them off, or are the angry souls of the prematurely departed now a permanent fixture here?

[And it takes a bit because there's kind of a lot of hallway between Sam's apartment and the one Drift shares with Wing, but eventually there's a knocking at the door.]

[OOOOOOOOH Drift doesn't want to open the door theirs more BOOGTIES OUT THERE but he does. Come on in Sam. Y'know for someone terrified out of his mind Drift looks pretty damn calm right now.]

Hi, um. Sorry to drag you out here like this.

You don't have to apologize. [Sam comes a few steps inside, adjusting the canvas carry-all slung over her shoulder. Those few step---before she remembers her manners and stops to toe off her shoes---reveal a little bit of a limp; a contributing factor in the time she took to show.] I kind of invited myself out, after all.

Oh. Right, of course.

[Aw and it looked lie she was hurt too now Drift feels like a turd. Well, he can feel like a turd later. He's a little busy getting stared at by a spooooky autobot ghost.]

Do you know what they want?

I'm going to level with you; I've got no idea. [She looks up and spreads her arms, shrugging apologetically.] I was hoping I could do a rough read and see if they really were angry or just restless, but with their being ghosts and all intermingling I'm having a hard time picking any actual information up.

[Wait. Context.]

Oh, right, that makes sense.

[he's a weird spiritualist hippie of course he gets it. Because he's a loser.]

I guess that means you're not sure how to get rid of them either, huh?

[Loser or not, he's now one of Sam's favourite people for saying it makes sense.]

Yeah, no; sorry. I do know something that's supposed to help, but how well it'll actually work is kind of iffy---never really had the opportunity to test it prior to all this.

At this point, I'm willing to try anything.

Okay, great, cause this is probably going to sound strange. [She shifts her carry-all so that it's easier to open, pulling out a heavy-duty paper bag that's got some substantial weight to it, its top twisted shut and tied with twine.] Brought a bag of salt, brought a bag of fennelseed, because a mix scattered around an area---especially if there's this third thing, but I couldn't remember what it was---is supposed to be able to dampen hauntings' activity. Unfortunately, there's only so much I myself could haul over here.

[What she brought could almost outweigh a medium sack of sugar, but goddamn; it might just barely be enough for one room in this enormous apartment.]

[damn this kind of shit is sort of fascinating to him. He gets down on his hands and knees to get a better look at what she's doing]

Do you think it'll work at all without the third thing?

[this isn't exactly the tip of an iceberg, but Sam's picked up a fair few tricks, and the others, at least, have been tried and tested]

[She sets the first bag down and then unshoulders her carry-all, taking out the other bag to start picking at its twine.]

I think if it would work with the third thing, it'll still work some without it. Do you have something I could mix this stuff in?

I... might?

[Drift hops up to start rummaging around the place. He doesn't really have much by way of tiny human things . he eventually returns with a shot glass... Cybertronian sized, but it's the best he's got.]

Will this work?

If you don't, it's no biggie; I could use my bag. [Sam offers this helpfully as Drift starts searching, but gives the bot a thumbs-up as he presents the shot glass.] That's fine.

[YAY DRIFT HELPED. He sets the shot glass on the floor next to her and takes a seat, legs crossed as he leans in again to see what neat tricks she has.]

[Sam has some neat tricks, but this... isn't really one of them. Sorry, Drift. Did Wing ever tell you about the bottled-message ritual? That's much better, and its preparation is much more interesting than Sam's dumping first one bag and then the other into the shot glass before mixing the salt and seed with her hands.]

[Once the mix is kinda-sorta uniform, she'll straighten and take a step back.]

If you want to try shaking that around, we'll see if it does anything. Moment of truth?

[Drift grabs the shot glass and hope up, glancing at it hmmm]

You mean just on the floor?

Yeah. It's messy; I'm sorry.

No, no, it's okay! A little mess never hurt anything.

[Unless you were Ultra Magnus but shhhh. Drift's going to start sprinkling this shit around the room now. When he finishes up he looks around aaand looks back to Sam in that "now what" sort of way]

[Sam watches, arms crossed and expression pensive. When Drift looks to her, she gives her shoulders a shallow little bob.]

Now we wait, see if anything happens in here.

[A beat, and she slowwwwly turns to where the one ghost was coming in through the wall.]

[Was.]

[PROGRESS]

Is it working? Does that mean it's working?

[even if they're just staying OUTSIDE that's a step in the right direction]

[Sam kind of pivots to face Drift, studying the bot very seriously and squinting slightly. After a long moment, she smiles.]

I think it is! I mean, okay, when I first came in there was something a little off in just your atmosphere? That---anomaly, I guess would be the word---has kind of... cleared up.

We should go outside for a moment. Just out of the apartment by a step or two, to see.

Uh. Sure. yeah! We can do that.

[HE DOESN'T WANNA GO OUTSIDE IN THE GHOOOOOSTS but he is manly and macho so he heads for the door.]

You're really calm about all of this.

[She follows a bit behind, hoping to get a good look at whatever happens when Drift leaves the salted space.]

Well, a lot of ghosts showing up isn't quite as shocking as 'surprise, you're stranded on an alien planet' even if it's kinda creepy, and I have at least seen some ghosts before.

[He walks outside a few steps, starting to reply to her buuut in the middle of getting his first word out the ghosts all start to scoot in closer to him. He pauses for a second aaand then walks backwards right through the door. Careful not to step on her, of course. Whatever he was trying to say before becomes:]

Nnooooooooope.

[thank you for being mindful of your huge feet]

[Sam spends a moment looking thoughtful, fingers steepled. She turns to Drift, offering a little smile in an attempt at reassurance.]

At least we know one thing which works?
