Me too. Not that I wouldn't love to watch you hand that dumb winglet his aft, but I've kinda gotten to like it here, and I don't want him fragging it up for all of us.
[Jadewing's words are gratifying---he hasn't examples, hasn't evidence, and still takes her seriously? It's something Sam appreciates, and it is almost as satisfying as seeing Dirge step away, afraid.]
I hear you. As much as I'd like to go home, I think I'll make a good go of it here. My only pressing problem? Dirge and his plans.
[Jade's past experiences with magic are people who can sling around ice and fire at will, so yes, he takes magic wielding humans seriously as a potential threat.]
Yeah. He doesn't strike me as the 'fast learner' type. We'll probably have to whack him over the head with 'killing people is a bad move' a few times before it sticks.
[It isn't as flashy as the elemental magics Havenites might observe, but Sam's magic affords her some interesting options. Someday, she may explain her bent for blood and ink. At present? She offers the seeker a smile.]
I'm happy to have your help. It's... not a one-person job, and I never meant to make a bid for dukedom.
Ah, I should say: that's slang. A duke is a lone operator. One might have allies, but they act without the backing of a concrete cabal.
[Jadewing might actually be pretty interested in that explanation when the time comes.]
Ah, I was wondering. The definition I have had that as a strictly male title.
And yeah, it usually takes more than one to help get especially dense winglets flying straight. Part of why trines exist.
[Personally, he thinks part of the reason Dirge is so messed up is lack of a proper trine. Well, that and being spawned from Starscream, which would be enough to mess anyone up.]
I don't know how it was ever adopted, but it seems to have stuck... and although I haven't heard many dukes mentioned, I have heard of a 'Bandaged Woman' who definitely deserves the title if the stories about her are at all accurate.
[But as excellent as some of those stories are, they'd take the topic too far afield.]
Trines? Time and place to ask could be better, I know, but... Broad strokes?
[Jadewing has to pause and think about how to explain thins for a moment.]
Trines... are the basic groups that Seekers train, fight, live, and work in. They always start out with three members, and very rarely go above five, but theoretically a trine can be as big a group as its leader can hold together. Trines have to be tight groups. The lives of their members often depend on their ability to work, fly, and fight together as a single, cohesive unit.
What trine means, though is... really hard to describe if you don't already know what it is; there's really no direct translation into any human language. Part friends, part co-workers, part brothers in arms, part family... even part lovers, sometimes, though that's not necessary.
[He shrugged, indicating his inability to explain the concept more clearly. It really was one of those things you just knew or you didn't.]
[Jadewing has to think about that for a second. Not because he thinks it's a good idea but because the logic of it is just so nonsensical. He raises an optic ridge.]
...And you think that killing someone will make her want to be your friend?
[A little 'huff of air' though his vents. Could've fooled him on the protoform thing sometimes. Though at least he doesn't have to talk you out of killing anyone.]
That's not what 'winglet' means.
[Well technically it could, but it didn't in this case.]
It just means a rookie; a young, inexperienced Seeker. Well, flier in general really, but Seekers use it most often.
Oh. [It occurs to Dirge he's not very familiar with his own frametype's colloquialisms on account of not being around other seekers. That and lacking an upbringing really.]
[All the more reason to let Jade take you under his wing (so to speak) a bit. Keep you from doing anything especially dumb til you have a chance to grow into your own shell.]
Time, mostly. The longer you live, the more you learn, and the more experience you gain.
And the best way to live a long time is to avoid doing things that might make people want to kill you, if at all possible.
Re: [Video]
[Read: Are you doing something stupid that he's gonna have to fly over there and smack you for?]
[Sam is already so done with Dirge---or would be, if there wasn't the very-present possibility of some soylent green shit going down.]
Re: [Video]
[Seriously, this kid...]
[Hopefully you've seen that staple between slasher flick failures.]
As it is, I appreciate the thought.
Re: [Video]
Good to know it's appreciated. Hopefully it'll be enough motivation to keep him from doing anything stupid, once I tell him.
[Take note, Dirge; she hopes you heard that.]
But I'd really rather it didn't come to that.

[Because srsly, WTF?]
Re: [Video]
The Sam Witch has threatened to haunt me if I kill her. I want the spirit medium as a friend so she will help me get rid of the Sam Witch's ghost.
Understand?
Re: [Video]
And why, might I ask, do you want to kill Sam?
[His tone suggests that it had better be a damn good reason. He kind of likes Sam.]
Re: [Video]
Re: [Video]
I hate to break this to you winglet, but people tend to take threats on their life pretty personally. As do those who happen to like them.
Re: [Video]
It doesn't matter anyway... The spirit medium refused. I'm stuck not murdering anyone. [He ex-vents loudly.]

Re: [Video]
[He laughs at that last comment.] Killing me is a lot harder than you'd think. I doubt anyone around here could do it.
[But they can hex or haunt him apparently and he does not want that either]
Re: [Video]
Maybe. Though depending on the circumstances, some of the things might not be repeatable in polite company.
[Because Seekers can be potty-mouths, especially when those around them do stupid things.
The comment about him being hard to kill just makes the smirk broaden.]
Watch who you say that to. You never know who's gonna show up here, and some bots might take it as a challenge.
