And why would you be planning to kill anyone?

I wasn't planning to. I just wanted it as an option!

[knight_light]

[He holds up a finger] You wouldn't need the option if the plan wasn't there.

Why are you wanting to kill someone, Dirge?

[Look at that face. He looks disappointed.]

[Dirge's wings start to droop.]

I know someone told me life is very valuable, and that makes sense to me. But if that life does not belong to me and that life is also in my way of obtaining something else- I would need to get rid of it.

Not only that. [He raises a talon and his optics shine.] There is a way for a life to belong to me that involves death.

Dirge, life is valuable because it's finite. Death is a serious thing. Just because someone might be standing in your way is not a good reason to end their life.

[And that last makes him frown.] What do you mean?

It's not? Hm... Wouldn't that depend on what I'm after?

[Dirge leans in close to the screen, causing the drone to wobble a little at the sudden proximity to his face.]

Consumption. Their life becomes part of mine. Forever.

No, it's not, for any reason.

[He sighs and refrains from facepalming.]

That's not how it works. They'd be part of you until your filters have worked out the waste, and their spirits would be free and never part of you at all.

[Is it true? He has no idea, but he's going to pretend it is.]

....I see. [If lives were that valuable... perhaps he should just start collecting them instead? Or at least instead of killing people in his way, perhaps he would just keep them.]

Spirits? Do you mean ghosts?

[Dear Primus, don’t start collecting people, Dirge! Voice this to him and he’ll tell you the best way to “collect” people is to be kind to them, to let them live their lives, and always be willing to help and listen. That’s how you make friends, and friends are very, very valuable, and will always be there for him.]

[He nods.] Ghosts and spirits are generally interchangeable terms.

[dirge]

So not just witches could haunt me!? [Oh no, this is terrible.]

[knight_light]

Ghosts and spirits are typically the most common things that haunt people. [in stories he’s not so sure he believes.]

Look, Dirge, I don’t want you killing people. It’s not a good thing to do, and here you’re likely to end up killing one of my friends if you kill someone. Please don’t do that...for me if for no other reason.

[dirge]

[Dirge buries his face in his talons and groans.]

More reasons I can't do it.... Fine, yes! Alright. No killing. It's getting too hard to be worth it anymore.

[Now he's pouting.] I don't want to lose you as a friend either.

[Wing smiles, the next words sincere] Thank you, Dirge. I really appreciate it.

[Aww. Okay, so he knows that the sentiment behind that statement is the greed talking, but it does mean something to him that Dirge doesn’t want to lose Wing’s friendship.]
