[Deckard is sitting close to his comm drone, leaned forward. He's not looking at the camera, though. Is he even aware he's being recorded? Apparently not, seems he's just talking to the drone itself (which apparently thought he /did/ want to broadcast what he was saying and so has helpfully taken the initiative to do so – isn't that nice of it?). He shakes his head as he sits back.]

That means it's been three and a half since Yuuta and I first met. Hmm. I was only in service back home for nine months. I've been in service in Haven – one Haven or another – for about five times that now. [His gaze drops away from the drone, voice soft.] I miss him. Yuuta. I hope he and the others are all right. I hope . . . McCrane's all right. He must have made it back home. He . . . he has to have.

[A soft tone chimes just then, startling Deckard. He looks back up at the drone. It chimes again, adding a low twitter. Deckard stands with a small grin and places a hand on the drone.]

Fuel time, got it. Thank you.

[He steps away, passing out of camera view. A moment later, the feed shuts off.]

[Just as well - he didn't really want his "moment" being shared anyway. Though it's fine if it's Gunmax.]

[The flinch is visible in the part of him that's JUST disappearing with the rest off-screen, an instant before the whole of him appears back onto it, gaping at the camera. His gaze drops to the drone, frowning.]

How long have you been broadcasting?

[He looks back up at Gunmax with a faintly-awkward grin. Yeah...just gonna answer the question and ignore the rest.]

No idea, though I hope so. After the heartbreak with Lua, he deserves some happiness.

I'm from a planet called Earth. My name is Deckard, previously with the Brave Police. I serve with Haven's police force now.

Eh, yes. I was the first of my kind. To date, there have still only been a little over a dozen of us built. We're called Super AIs.

Safe to figure you're Cybertronian?

You realize that's just a fancy way of saying "really smart drone", right?

[At least he's not trying to insult you?]

[He frowns, braced for the "talking toaster" talk. He…can't deny it. Even this long later.]

For your people, yes. I'm not Cybertronian. I don't possess a spark. I'm not a living machine, not like you are. To Cybertronians, we do come off as being nothing more than "really smart drones."

On the world we come from, robots are the creations of another race, called humans. Even the most advanced are what you would consider a "mere drone". I was the very first to be capable of independent thought. I can feel emotions just like a human. Or a Cybertronian. The rest of my kind were built and programmed with data derived from mine.

[He’s nodding.] Drones don’t feel emotions, mech. Dunno what I’d call you, but you definitely aren’t a drone.

One other. One of my teammates, Gunmax. He’s . . . around somewhere. If you see a predominantly green robot with a round, white helmet and blue visor riding around on a motorcycle, that’s him.

…you? Have you met anyone here yet who’s from your own reality?

[He’s got a smile on his face for Deckard until he’s asked the same question. He’s expression sours...]

Yeah...someone’s here from home. You know Bulkhead...?

[Deckard wants to grin and say "yes, he's a good friend!", but . . . he catches that sour expression. There's only one reason he can think of for it. /NOW/ he's thinking/remembering to subtly look for a "faction symbol" on the mech, keeping his tone and expression neutral.]

I do. He's been around for some time now. He's from the opposite faction you are, I take it?

....Yeah.

[Their relationship goes a lot deeper than that and has gotten very odd and complicated since just before he arrived here.]

[Oh, yeah, and he's got several large purple Con symbols on him.]

That sounds like a long time. [It is to her.]

It is. It's a very long time.

[Oddly-enough, the two of them are pretty damned close to the same age, so...]

[Yup, only about three years difference.]

[She gives him a little smile.] I’m all right. I’ve moved in with Lea. He’s been looking after me.

[She was SOOOOO unsure of him at first, but now she’s happy he hadn’t left her alone.]

Haven police, huh? You guys see a lot of action?

Thankfully, no. Minor disputes and such for the most part. Civic service such as helping people with projects if needed. But should anything major happen as did a few months ago, there's an organized force to help deal with it, along with anyone else who chooses to fight and defend themselves and others.

Nice and quiet, huh? Must be nice.
