Has anyone seen Jendayi? Little girl, blue hair, pointy ears? I've been taking care of her since she got dropped here, but I can't find her anywhere! I mean she was right there playing on the rug and then when I looked up from what I was doing, she was gone!

I dunno if I should go out and look for her myself, or stay here in case she comes home or...

[Sam considers this conundrum carefully, since someone's being lost is a serious matter.

Waiting is the worst, and as you said, more eyes, the better, but it's no good if she comes home only to head out looking for you. Maybe you could have your communication drone stay there so as to tell her 'stay put' if she comes in while you're out? I'd think one should be able to pass on a simple message. And you could pick up a loaner while you're looking---that way, anyone with word could still contact you, and you could sound in if you luck out.

That... could probably work, yeah. Maybe if I can figure how to make the thing motion activated or something.

Any idea where I would pick up a loaner, though?

Maybe even just instructing it to 'repeat my next sentence until you're told to stop' if you've no close neighbours.

[Sam nods immediately upon hearing his question.]

Sure! Wheeljack's workshop is close to the Warehouse, and he said he has tons; I can send you the directions he sent me.

And yeah, if you could send me the directions that'd be great. I met him, but we talked in the bar, not his place.

I'll be there shortly. I'm gonna call off the search, then come right over.

[He could return the borrowed drone later.]

You stay right there in the apartment til I get back, you understand?

[Yes the drone would have already told her, but it did no harm reinforcing that fact.]

[Her shoulders hunch and she nods.]

[She's curled up, sitting at the head of his bed hugging her knees when he gets home. She'll peek up at him like she expects to be in trouble.]

[After sending out a general message to everyone that Jendayi was safely back at the apartment and thanking them for their help, Lea headed back there himself.

Once there, it only took a moment to locate Jendayi; thankfully, it wasn't that big an apartment. When he comes into the bedroom, he doesn't look angry. Just tense and concerned. He sits down on the bed near her, beckoning her over to him.]

C'mere, Jendayi.

[Looking somewhat like a kicked puppy she obediently crawls across the bed to him, and slips right onto his lap.]

[Once there, Lea gives her a cursory check over, just to confirm for himself that she really is OK. Upon finding the she is much of the tension melts out of him, and he pulls her into a gentle hug, sighing in relief.]

I'm so glad you're OK...

[He just holds her like that for a long moment glad that she's safe and in one piece, as he gathers himself again. When he pulls back a bit, enough to look her in the eye, he looks more stern. As relieved as he is to see you OK, Jendayi, yes, you are in trouble.]

But don't you ever run off like that again, you understand? You scared the hell of of me.

[ That sounded more eerie than just some kind of accident. But Elsa's more than just eager to help. ]

Well, I dunno if it was instant or anything, but it couldn't have been more than ten minutes from the last time I checked on her. She was playing quietly on the rug, I was doing something in the kitchen, then I look up a few minutes later and she's gone!

[He's beginning to understand the old 'can't take your eyes off them for a minute' expression.]

I checked the apartment and the rest of the building that's accessible. and now I'm checking the Hub and other obvious places. The problem is, with the Gateways, she could be almost anywhere in the city by now, and a few places outside it.

I'll take care of up here, and I'll make my way down to the Hub.

As far as I know, she's...capable. She'll turn up.
