I'm going to say 'oh yeah,' almost every time you ask. To ah cross my Ts; would you happen to have a blank book---just, like, a normal notebook---or a word processing program that's not the drones' text note function handy? I don't need it---I'd have you hang onto it, for either---but it could be useful if we're unlucky with this.

[She pauses for a second, but the allusion is unimportant... and not exactly an exaggeration.]

[Over an hour after the last exchange---and the thick 'catch you later,' it culminated in, Sam struggling to keep her composure---there's an incoming call.]

[She sounds so down.]

[As much as she's sure it won't, she can't help but be hopeful.]

Tell me, please, if you've seen a rough patch of river? I need to get to fresh running water to finish this and although the stream in the south should work if there isn't anything else, a faster flow would be better, and the stream's... quite a ways away.

[It doesn't take long for Predaking to find the sort of thing that Sam was looking for and he tracks down the organic once he has. He's proud, in a way, to be able to help and it shows in the way he lifts his head once he's found her, almost puffing up in his pride.

He wants to help; that's all he wants and if he can do this maybe he can begin to make up for his past wrong doings.]

[‘In touch,’ he had said, and Sam had only expected her drone would sound with an incoming call when Predaking had finished his hunt. She hadn’t expected to hear vast wings beating at the air overhead, or the sheer staggering size of the dragon. To see him on-screen had been something (specifically, something she’d been poorly prepared for) but in person…? It takes an effort to start forward from standing awestruck.]

I can’t thank you enough. At home, none of this would’ve been difficult to do, but here, without help…?

[She shakes her head, looking down at the bottle the ritual requires as she rolls it between her hands.]

It would take me months to manage. That’s a long time to wonder ‘will it work?’ especially alone.

[She shrugs, and---feeling very small---straightens to look up at Predaking and offer the Cybertronian a smile.]

That said, I should say it’s nice to meet you properly, since it is.
