[Guess who's been buried to the vocal indicator flanges with work for the past month.  The city's Chief Engineer has been working with his fellow Guardians to investigate what the hell Galos was up to - and how it got past them to even suspect what was really happening - and how to prevent it in the future.  And...other things, but he'd have to be specifically asked about that, because OY so not fun.  Plus overseeing the rebuild of the apartments and other structures that were damaged in that blast a while back and replacing victims' comm drones and other service drones.  He's been one busy mechanic.]

[And it's a little audible in his voice when he finally shows himself on the network.  But at least he waited till he'd gotten two full rest-cycles to recover before doing this?]

'Afternoon, Haven.  In case anyone doesn't know me, my name's Wheeljack.  I'm one'a the Guardians of the city as well as the Chief Engineer.  An' before anyone says it . . . no, just because I touch it doesn't mean it'll blow up.  That's just my experimental stuff.  Anyway, my shop's been closed for some time - for obvious reasons - but I'm lettin' people know now that I'm open again.  Most repair work can be handled by the Mr. Fix-It shop on the other side of the Hub, but if they send ya my way, I can take it now.  Also if you've got mods or other ideas you'd like ta have built, come see me an' we'll talk.  No guarantees I'll do it, as always, but we can talk.

[With a little luck and a great appreciation of the directions she's got, Sam does arrive in a reasonable amount of time. She doesn't hesitate to enter the shop, but she does stop just inside the doorway---better than being rude and just barging on in]

[Eh, that's all right - the door is mostly just to warn him when people have entered . . . for THEIR sakes, in case he's got something dangerous going on.]

[The interior of the shop is about what one might expect from a genius mechanical tinkerer - there are boxes and sundry bits-n-bobs all over various shelves, a few tables, even the floor. The old engineer himself is at a work station over to left. At the sound of the door, he straightens from the project he's been bent over, looking around...then down.]

[If Sam's yet to meet a Cybertronian in person, she might be in for a bit of a shock. While on the smallish side for his kind - without being a Minibot or Cassetticon or the like - he's still a good sixteen feet tall.]

Sam! Hey, welcome.

[He steps away from his workbench, wiping his hands on a rag that could have been someone's bedspread at one time, and crosses to crouch in front of her and offer a . . . well, a fingertip in lieu of his whole hand.]

Pleased ta meetcha. In person, I mean.

[While she's fortunately met a few Cybertronians face to face, Sam isn't yet entirely accustomed to being among giants... and probably won't be for a while. It's just strange, seeing someone on-screen in surroundings to scale, and then seeing how huge they actually are. Still, she spends just a second taking in the engineer, and readily cups a hand over the offered fingertip to approximate a shake, smiling.]

Feeling's mutual! How're things?

[Broad, boxy shoulders shrug, head tilting.]

Eh, as well as can be expected. Were ya around for the rogue Guardian an' his Miasma monsters show, or you newer than that?

[He shakes his head. It's mostly a matter of "how much do I need to explain?" but it doesn't really necessarily matter.]

Anyway, didja have somethin' in mind, or just wanna come see the shop?

[One eyebrow goes up, because that already sounds like one hell of a headache.]

Shop's cool to see, but I'd wanted to come in and ask about a drone exchange. Don't get me wrong---I like my little skyping saucer just fine, but given what I've seen it support? I'm thinking one of the bigger ones would hold my weight, and still move faster than I'm able to.

You thinkin' specifically a transport comm drone, or you mostly just want transport. A bigger drone'll hold your weight, but it wouldn't be that comfortable, I wouldn't think.

[Not that he wouldn't give her an exchange, but if it wouldn't REALLY serve her needs...]

[Sam's grin is sheepish and almost apologetic as she spreads her arms, palms up.]

A bigger drone was just the only thing I knew to be almost-certainly available. Other options? I'm all ears! But, I don't want to be too big a bother.

Nah, not a bother at all. You'd be surprised what we have over at the Warehouse. C'mon, I'll show ya.

[With that, he pushes to his feet and will head for the door, beckoning for her to follow.]

[Surprised? She doesn't doubt it, but she won't hesitate to hurry after him.]

[He's LONG used to working around and with humans, so he doesn't even think about it in shortening and slowing his gait for Sam to keep up.]

[They head next door to the Warehouse and Wheeljack wastes no time passing some aisles and turning down others, knowing the exact section he's heading for. Soon, the area where any and all transport types (short of teleportation, that's another section) comes into view.]

[It’s appreciated, and especially as Sam’s default speed has been ‘sort of slow’ for the last six years.]

[This is a part of the Warehouse she hadn’t even come close to approaching in her own explorations, so (even immediately upon entering,) the adept does her level best to look at everything. There’s… rather a lot to look at.]

[It's definitely a lot to look at! At first, things seem haphazard, but upon closer inspection one might realize that there is in fact a method to the madness, as it were. For example, this section - further back can be viewed the FAR large forms of Cybertronian transports while closer are the more humanoid-sized vehicles, with obvious land-based things (anything sporting wheels or treads) over here and things with rounder bottoms (such as for water or maybe even anti-grav units) over that way. Wheeljack started for the more land-based vehicles, thouugh he'd not stop Sam from exploring whatever caught her eye for now.]

[Quite a few things warranted an interested eyeing, and several others (like the pink Power Wheels, or the jeep bearing a familiar red-and-black bone logo) a soft snort, but the first to prompt a real remark...?]

Huh! Looks a lot like my little Arctic Cat, over there.

Snow, huh? Didn't think it was for water, but I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was used for. You've handled somethin' like this before, then?

[He's still not sure what it has to do with cats...]

Oh yeah, from what I can see? Very like it. ...and being thrown a bit is understandable, since even though they're made for snow, you can take a snowmobile over water... If you're going fast enough. It's doable, but not the best idea to try.

Yeah, seems too heavy.

[He's still eyeing the snowmobile, like he's got an idea, but it's a fledgeling one at best just yet.]
