Video
[The feed comes on to show a bot who really has been rather quiet lately, offering a crooked half-smile.]

Hey folks.

[Did that seem like too much steam? He was just standing there, it didn’t look like he should be venting nearly that much steam in that case.]

Was just hopin’ someone c-could do me a favor, n-n- [Well that sudden malfunction of voice didn’t bode well. The titanium bot stopped dead, a tremor running through his frame as the sound of something grinding in his chassis was heard, the echo of something snapping accompanying the sudden jerk of his frame, steam billowing around him as his optics went dark and he suddenly sank on his feet as his systems simply forced a shutdown before something else went wrong.

The silence stretched a moment before there was another jerk of movement from the bot, steam hissing from vents as his gaze lifted, the light of his optics narrowed to pinpricks as there was a sudden tearing of fabric and he suddenly struck out at the drone. Not like anyone would know if the drone fared well after that; the feed cutting abruptly.]

Action
[Even if someone missed the video, it would be quite clear that something was not right with The Spine if they ran into him outside. His normal almost awkwardly smooth, practiced way of moving had been replaced by a heavy sort of gait that he hadn’t used since he was younger, the way he seemed to look through anyone that came near.

Sleeves shredded, fabric hanging in tatters around the weapons his arms had shifted to, the bot clearly on the hunt for something. Not seeing the city around him, seeing instead a bleak landscape, hearing the metallic trumpeting of the enemy. Whatever else might be happening, it was plain that he did not mean well for whoever crossed his path.]

((OOC: Warbot malfunction! There's some chance for some triggering mess- body horror, violence, death, things of that nature, so if you don't want that, just put an ooc note in your first reply and I'll make sure everything's a-ok. Also if you want your character and Spine to throw down let me know what the limits are/if you want to deal with them dying or not, serious injuries etc. His app has all the info on his warbot weapons but ask me if you need clarification!))

[Action forever now] DNW to kill him, but anything else is fair game. XD

[When there's no response . . . yeah, he's gonna go look for you, buddy.]

Okay, that's it, renewing paid time. XD;;;

Wha-?

[The Spine had spotted Wheeljack first, and the voice - with its odd intonation - has him spinning around just in time to hear, then SEE, the weapons engaging. He doesn't understand most of what the human-built minibot said, but, well, it's really hard to misunderstand "takedown", especially in context.]

[The old engineer has been living in Haven in almost universal peace for a few hundred years now, but that doesn't erase the fact that he is a veteran of a civil war spanning countless millennia. Though /that/, in turn? Doesn't mean he is, by and large, a combat veteran.]

[With a yelp of alarm, Wheeljack throws himself sideways, curling into a roll that would bring him back up on a knee, facing the armed minibot. At least he still has his defensive reflexes! He steals a look over his shoulder at the spot that has been decimated by the energy ray. F-FRAG! He's torn between horrified and...well, he catches himself thinking he wants a closer look at that thing when this is over, to see how it works, before admonishing himself and dragging his mind back to the task at hand. Namely not getting any /personal/ experience with how it works. He runs a quick inventory of what he has on-hand to disable the little bot. He really doesn't want to pull out his Guardian abilities if he doesn't have to.]

EXCUSE YOU he's not an elephant, he's just built stocky. XD

[Whoa, frontliner tactics. Slaggit, Lambo twins, where are you when he needs you?]

[The car catches him across the hip as he attempts to dodge, spinning him backwards to land hard on his back. Then The Spine's on top of him. He sacrifices a hand to catch the saw, blade biting deeply into his palm, as he reaches to grab the more-or-less human-sized robot in his other hand.]

The Spine! It's me, Wheeljack! What the Pit kinda malfunction's gotten inta you?
ye_olde_engineer: (Arms folded)

Y U so mean. TT~TT

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-02-28 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
[Haha, he's not the most adept combatant, but he's no fool either. (Okay, there are those who might argue, but...) He caught that other arm, trapping it to The Spine's side. After all, the Cybertronian's hand width is pretty much from shoulders to hips on the human-built robot.]

[The old engineer studies the steam-driven antique and shakes his head.]

I dunno what's wrong with you, pal, but I think I better figure it out fast. C'mon.

[And . . . moving carefully - both hands are occupied (PAINFULLY in one case) - he'll climb to his feet and turn to head back to his workshop. And hey, kid? If you don't stop with that saw, he /will/ pull your arm off at the shoulder socket. Not that he wants to, but not like he can't just reattach it later, either.]

Ah! Oww!

[Okay, despite the thought he'd entertained, Wheeljack doens't /actually/ mean to hurt the malfunctioning robot, but he reacts, flinching and starting to move his hands apart before he can fully catch himself.]

((ooc: I'll let you decide how far apart he gets his hands before he stops himself. XD))

Lemme know if this isn't okay after all. =3

[Yyyyyyyyyeah, no, he's seen enough of what that array can do. He'd REALLY rather not a face-full of weird blue energy, thanks.]

[With The Spine wiggling around in his hands so much, and himself flinching and reacting to the continued dig of that saw into - no, THROUGH - his hand...he's gonna wind up pulling that arm the rest of the way out of the socket. Sorry, buddy!]

Poor Spine TT~TT

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-03-27 09:33 pm (UTC)(link)
[Wheeljack actually jumped at the scream, instantly regretting what he'd done - not that he'd done it on purpose, but still!]

Sorry! Sorry, pal! I'll getcha fixed up here shortly, promise!

[Needed to get him immobilized first, though. Thankfully, they'd reached the workshop by then. He got one of his many helper drones to open the door for him, and another to meet him at a free work table - miracle of miracles, there was one - and have it remove the now-still buzzsaw from his hand. The damage done would hamper his ability to work on The Spine, but he could use it well enough for the moment. Now to get the little robot settled somewhere . . . and what to do about that array...]

Again - lemme know if I should edit anything

The Spine . . . The Spine, listen ta me, pal! You're gonna seriously fry your circuits if ya don't calm down.

[To be honest? He knew The Spine still probably couldn't hear him at this point, let alone would listen. But it made him feel better, okay? He had to try, at least. Because the abundance of smoke and steam were alarming enough, but all noise coming from within? He was going to completely lose the poor little guy if he didn't do something quickly! As it was, he wasn't sure he could save the earth-built bot, but he was slagging gonna try.]

[With the help of his worker drones, he got the panicky steam-bot immobilized in clamps that still left much of his vital workings reachable. He tried to be careful with the clamp around The Spine's head, but he needed at the cranial compartment. At least . . . he was guessing that that would be the most likely route for finding a way to knock the poor bot out, since he guessed that Cybertronian signal suppressants wouldn't do any good (and might even do damage).]

[Ah! Yes, there - an access port. And the engineer can even rig a jack for it quickly and easily. He does so and plugs in, studying the archaic coding that starts to fill his console screen. He spends several minutes studying the programs that seem to be running the bot, finding what he believes is a startup file mix-up - yeah, that's quite possibly the problem. Little bot needs a hard reboot...for starters. Okay, how 'bout this? Wheeljack quickly types in a few commands.]

[Please let this work!]

[Wheeljack shook his head as he watched the commands scroll up his screen. The primitive startup sequence was...endearing, actually. And the diagnostic results explained a LOT.]

Frag, pal, why'd ya let yourself go so long?

[He turned away to start gathering tools to open the little bot up and begin repairs when the hiss of steam made him turn back around. He saw the look of alarm on The Spine's face - really, who could blame the poor guy! - and moved quickly into the bot's field of vision.]

The Spine? Can ya hear me? It's Wheeljack.

[He'd wait for clear recognition before saying - let alone doing - anything else.]

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-04-13 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
[Wheeljack rested a hand - well, more like two fingers - on The Spine's shoulder. Uh...never mind that the palm of that hand still had a DEEP gash in it - the other was full of tools. He showed some other signs of damage as well, mostly from having tumbled around avoiding being shot.]

Some kinda catastrophic failure in your systems. Ya glitched out pretty badly. I think ya mighta skipped back ta some old programmin' even. How are ya feelin' now?

[Besides, well...the missing arm and all.]
ye_olde_engineer: (Default)

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-04-13 05:44 am (UTC)(link)
[The engineer grimaces a bit - not that the steam-powered bot might be able to tell - at the mention of the saw, but he just nods.]

Seems like, yeah. So . . . you're all right now? Will ya be okay if I release the clamps? You were pretty panicked an' outta control there for a while.

[He himself didn't like being restrained. He couldn't imagine anyone else did either.]
ye_olde_engineer: (Default)

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-04-13 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
A'right. Hang on, pal.

[Wheeljack will get all the clamps undone, gently supporting The Spine until he's free and then helping him to sit or lay down.]

Your systems - especially your motor functionin' - all need some serious attention, The Spine. Maybe even a good overhaul in a few cases. Will ya let me open ya up an' get you taken care of?

[He'll insist REALLY strongly if The Spine hesitates or refuses...but he won't force the guy.]
ye_olde_engineer: (Default)

[personal profile] ye_olde_engineer 2016-04-13 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
Hmn, yeah, I thought that mighta been it. [didn't want to assume, though] Okay, pal, lemme gather a few things.

[He turned away once more, pulling together the rest of what he felt he'd need, then came back.]

A'right, gonna open ya up now.

[And so it'd go. Wheeljack would keep The Spine talking, sometimes just to distract the little bot, and sometimes to get information from him for what needed to be done next or how best to do it, or just to let him know /what/ he was doing - The Spine would never wonder or be caught unawares. The engineer's as gentle as he can be while still getting the work done efficiently, sometimes removing whole sections of systems to work on more easily before connecting them back into place. Parts of The Spine's shoulder needed to be rebuilt before reattaching his arm, and Wheeljack does the work as quickly as he can. The engineer knew that, if it were him, he'd want to be whole again sooner than later.]
