[Accidental Video]
[The little drone sent to this new arrival has ended up turned on. She seems to be trying to shoo it away.] N-no. No, go away. Please. [She's whispering, but the tone is desperate and edged with tears.]
[She turns and limps away from the drone, something must be wrong with her right leg. The drone just...follows. When the girl glances back and sees it still coming after her she lets out a sound that's something between a frustrated growl and a whimper.]
L-leave me alone.
[Anyone paying special attention to the surroundings the drone shows may note that this child seems to be somewhere close to The Hub, as they'll be able to spot the Warehouse behind her at least once.]

[He looks up at Lea.] This way. [He'll lead the young man to a room and gesture for him to sit. The child seems to have settled in his arms, and so he figures it may be best to just let Lea hold her for now.]
[He'll pull her shirt aside to get a look at the wound there, and the same at her hip. He's scowling, infuriated that someone would do something so horrible to a child.]
[He'll put a hand to her forehead and start pouring healing energies into the girl.]

Lea's reaction to getting a clear look at them for the first time himself is similar to Paian's, though more subdued. Years of feigning emotions have their benefits, apparently. For now, he simply sits and watches while Paian does his work, not wanting to do anything that might interfere.]

[She shivers at the odd sensation from the healing, but doesn't otherwise move...she does open her eyes to gaze up at Lea, since he's the one holding her.]
no subject
All right. She'll need food, fluids, and rest for a bit. Are you going to look after her or do you want to leave her here?
no subject
He nods to Paian's instructions when the healing is complete.]
Think I'll take her back to my place, at least for the time being.
[Even though he has no doubt the little girl would be well taken care of, it feels wrong just to dump her on Paian and the hospital staff, now that the emergency has been dealt with. Still, he glances down at Jendayi to see her reaction to the idea, if any. If she really didn't want to go with him, he wouldn't force her.]

[Her gaze drops away and she lets herself just tuck into him a little. She's tired, she's scared, and she's with strangers. She just...she just wants this over now. She wants to wake up and be home in her Papa's arms.]
no subject
[With that he'll slip out of the room. They can stay however long they want and leave when ready.]
no subject
Paian's gone before he can say anything though. Ah well. That had waited this long, it'd wait another day or two.
Turning his attention back to Jendayi, he smiled.]
See? What'd I tell you; nothing to worry about.
[There he paused a moment, smile turning a bit sheepish as he stood up to leave.]
I hope you don't mind sleeping on the couch for the night. I mean, I'll fix it up for you, but my apartment was really only meant for one, so there's no spare bed. And we'll have to see about getting you cleaned up a little, and get you some other clothes. The clothes can wait til tomorrow. And the cleaning up can wait til after you eat, since well, doctor's orders and all.
[Yeah, he's babbling a bit as he walks. Because it's just hitting him now that assuming her Papa didn't come along with her (a highly likely possibility), then he may well end up taking care of the kid long term. And he... really wasn't sure he was up to the task.]
no subject
...Thank you.
no subject
Paian's the one who really did all the work. I didn't really do anything any decent person wouldn't have done.
[slight pause] Hope you don't mind but we're gonna have to go through another portal to get back to my place. It'd take way too long to walk there straight.

no subject
What is it with you and picking up stray puppies?
What indeed?
Regardless, he lets her rest there til they get to the portal, once again activating it and passing through without incident. Once on the other side, it was only a short walk to the building housing Lea's apartment, and a climb up two flights of stairs to get there. Lea punched in a short key-code to open the door.]
Well, here we are. Home sweet home, kinda.
[It's a small but comfortable three room apartment, with the main room divided up into a living area and kitchenette, with two doors along the left-hand wall leading into a bedroom and bathroom. Lea turns on the lights and finally sets Jendayi down on the couch.]
Go ahead and make yourself comfortable; I'll see about getting you something to eat, OK?
no subject
Okay...thank you.
[What a strange place...this whole place is so strange...unlike anything she's ever seen before.]
no subject
Opening the refrigerator, he looked over the contents in search of something suitable, frowning slightly at what he saw. Half to himself.]
Man, I need to get groceries...
[Something else to do tomorrow. At least he had juice, so the fluids part would be covered. He got the juice out and set it on the counter, then turned to search the cupboard. Ah! There was a can of chicken noodle soup. Kids liked that, right?]
Is soup OK? 'Fraid I wasn't really expecting guests, so I'm short on some things.
no subject
...what is this place? [she looks around the room again, kind of giving...everything a funny look.]
no subject
Hmm? Oh. This is my apartment; it's where I live.
[The funny looks don't go unnoticed either.]
I... take it things here are a lot different than you're used to, huh?
no subject
[Her gaze sweeps the room again before aettling on Lea again.] I live in a den, a...a cave...with my Papa.
no subject
Yeah, this isn't not exactly the most homey design for a building, is it? Back where I come from- a city called Radiant Garden- most people live in wood or stone houses. But the natives here like things made of metal.
[Like themselves, though Lea decides not to go into that yet. Kid has had enough shocks for one day. He fishes out the can opener and starts opening the soup as their conversation continues.]
A cave, huh? Is it nice? I've been in a few caves before, but none of them where anyplace I'd want to live.
no subject
[She shifts a bit, looking around again.] ....flat walls look kinda funny.
no subject
[The can open, he set the top aside and began looking for a pot to heat it in.]
You'll probly get used to the flat walls after a little while. Most buildings around here are like that, unless you go out to the ruins. Which I really don't recommend for someone your age, by the way. They're dangerous and not always that stable.
no subject
[She looks around and...and slips off the couch to almost cautiously approach him. Is he going to be mad that she didn't stay in the couch?]
no subject
Well, hey there. Did you wanna help out?
[The tone of the question makes it clear that she's welcome to say no, but it was a reasonable assumption, given that she'd joined him in the kitchenette.]
no subject
...Is that...food in there? [She's never seen food in something like that before.]
no subject
Yeah. It's called condensed soup. That means that it's soup someone made, then took some of the water out and sealed it in metal cans like this. That way it keeps a lot longer.
Course, that means we have to add some water back in before we can heat it up and eat it.
[He emptied the contents of the can into the pot, then went to the sink and filled the can with water. Retrieving a spoon from the silverware drawer, he proceeded to mix the can of water with the can of soup.]
There. Now all we have to do is heat it, and it'll be ready to eat.
[He paused, an amused, almost conspiratorial grin spreading over his face.]
Wanna see something neat while I do?
no subject
Something neat? Okay... [She was curious at least.]
