[Sam's broadcasting from a seat at Your Place, a milkshake on the table in front of her.]
Having now completed a couple years of it, I'm now pretty sure everyone under a hundred is improvising this 'real adult' stuff. And as for the rest of you? [She grins a crooked little grin, pointing at the camera with a cherry stem.] I've got some suspicions still.
[The broadcast would end there---and does, briefly---but the network's treated to Hiro hijacking Sam's drone to properly inform other Haveners.]
Hey, so, uh, what Sam means is that it's her birthday and she's just being cryptic. So, y'know. Don't let her forget it.

[As serious as this conversation is, she's having a hard timing imagining something other than a xenomorph queen.]
Re: [action]
Mm, well, they were big. About my size and bigger. They were kind of insect like, probably had some sort of exoskeleton, a lot of arms. These particular organics had cybernetic augmentations, explains the sturdiness.
[action]
Are we talking a lot like six or eight arms, or more than that? Kinda quibbling detail, I know, and I'm sorry, but I'm just a very visual person.
Re: [action]
It was... Four? Four, two pairs. Yeah, and the second pair was kind of small and stubby. What's this all about?
[action]
[Ah, Christ.]
I want to know what to expect if a person from that party ever shows, so I know what I can do if one shows and the situations sours past that. [She holds up both hands in a wordless 'but wait,' hoping to preempt any interruption so she can explain a bit better.] I know that's 'not much,' but it doesn't need to be 'nothing' and having it not be 'nothing' matters a lot to me because Wing matters a lot to me. I don't know the details of what went down past what I've got out of you, but I want to be able to do some deck-stacking without scrambling if it might do anyone any good.
[action]
[It's kinda been a while since all of that went down let him Think.]
I don't really know what they would do if any of them ended up here, but they're certainly formidable. In large groups especially, but that doesn't make them any less of a threat one on one. Like... you've probably seen Wing and I out training? He beats me pretty much every time, right? He's not a push over.
We lost him to their leader.
[action]
[The words just... tumble out. Not on reflex, the way they often do---the way 'thanks,' would, or 'you too,'---but because she is sorry, and sorry there's not more to say for the sentiment since two words are just not enough.]
[So, Sam's quiet a beat, considering what she's heard and said.]
...In light of that, I'm hoping what I said for 'if one shows and the situation sours' doesn't sound like so much crazytalk.
[action]
[He gives her the most careful little pat on the back EVER. no harm done, kid]
It doesn't sound like crazytalk at all. The way things work around here, being prepared for anything, no matter how far fetched it may be, is just a good idea.
[action]
I am so glad you feel that way. I'm also---well, wanting to say thanks. For answering my questions, but also for not getting just incredulous or dismissive when I talk about stacking the deck.
