I don't trust Dirge, but he seems to take signed contracts seriously, and to be desperate. So, I'm thinking to present him with terms for having his sense of taste restored in contract form and have him sign... if he is serious.
I'm not wild about it myself, but I don't know of any other way we can be sure Dirge means what he says. His giving word won't hold water [ironic as that is] and by this point he'd probably pay lip service to anything at all.
Yeah, kind of. It's going to be a take-it-or-leave-it term, but I am gonna say so upfront.
The contract is going to boil down to his signing to understanding and accepting that in exchange for having his sense of taste brought back, he's not to harm, attempt to harm, or attempt to engineer harm to me, and he's not to murder or attempt to murder anybody else. I don't have a final draft just yet, but that's basically it.
Call me again when you have your final draft. I will not agree to help subject a mech to supposedly consensual mind rape over approximate terms. If I am going to agree to help in this I want to know exactly what Dirge is being manipulated into agreeing to. [And don't deny it's manipulation. He knows that Sam is aware of how Dirge is taking the loss of his sense of taste, and that the Seeker is desperate to get it back. It's likely he will agree to all of this if only because it's the only option he's being given that will give him what he wants most... It's blackmail in a sense.]
[And just to be clear, there's no accusation in his tone or anything. He understands why she's doing this, and understands that this probably is the only way, it's just...yeah...he doesn't like this. Sorry, Sam.]
I'll call you again when I have the semi-final draft, since I won't consider it final until it's got your okay.
[She won't deny it's manipulation, as that would be a bald-faced lie; everyone is aware of how Dirge is taking the loss of his sense of taste, and every move she's made since witching that sense away was with the aim of stacking the deck.]
'I, the undersigned, understand and accept that Samantha Patchowski (otherwise known as ‘the Sam witch’) will restore my sense of taste only if I do not harm her, attempt to harm her, or attempt to engineer her being harmed, and I do not eat or otherwise murder any person/persons. I understand and accept that I am not to exploit the wording of these terms by eating part of a person without fatally wounding them, as this is a no-bullshit contract. I also understand and accept that if I fail to abide by this contract, my sense of taste is forfeit.

How do you intend to be sure?
[As much as he could wish that his disappointment had been enough of a blow to Dirge to have him serious, Wing wasn't sure he could count on that...]

And how is he going to do that, exactly?

...I don't like this, Sam.
[A pause]
Will he be given a choice to allow this?

Yeah, kind of. It's going to be a take-it-or-leave-it term, but I am gonna say so upfront.

So the deal is Soundwave invades his mind to make sure he's sincere about signing a contract, and you return his sense of taste, correct?
...And what exactly is this contact?

Thank you, Sam. [For letting him have final say on this contract...it...makes considering this a little easier...]
