[Video] - Action also welcome

[Guess who's been buried to the vocal indicator flanges with work for the past month. The city's Chief Engineer has been working with his fellow Guardians to investigate what the hell Galos was up to - and how it got past them to even suspect what was really happening - and how to prevent it in the future. And...other things, but he'd have to be specifically asked about that, because OY so not fun. Plus overseeing the rebuild of the apartments and other structures that were damaged in that blast a while back and replacing victims' comm drones and other service drones. He's been one busy mechanic.]

[And it's a little audible in his voice when he finally shows himself on the network. But at least he waited till he'd gotten two full rest-cycles to recover before doing this?]

'Afternoon, Haven. In case anyone doesn't know me, my name's Wheeljack. I'm one'a the Guardians of the city as well as the Chief Engineer. An' before anyone says it . . . no, just because I touch it doesn't mean it'll blow up. That's just my experimental stuff. Anyway, my shop's been closed for some time - for obvious reasons - but I'm lettin' people know now that I'm open again. Most repair work can be handled by the Mr. Fix-It shop on the other side of the Hub, but if they send ya my way, I can take it now. Also if you've got mods or other ideas you'd like ta have built, come see me an' we'll talk. No guarantees I'll do it, as always, but we can talk.

((ooc: This is Dragon. Don't have a new computer yet, so still working on borrowed stuff. Tags will come whenever I'm able to, but been meaning to put this up for a while - a few people have expressed interest in interacting with him, so now's your chance. ^_^))

Just wanted to see you, actually.

I wanted a chance to get to know one of the Guardians.

[She blinks at him...and smiles.] Thank you.

...You seem nice.

Yes, I...uh. I'll meet you at your shop; I would hate to inconvenience you.

[ She's humble, her words are still quiet and reserved. ]

I'll be there, momentarily.

Yeah, seems too heavy.

. . . what other kinds'a stuff have ya piloted?

[He's still eyeing the snowmobile, like he's got an idea, but it's a fledgeling one at best just yet.]

[The old engineer answered the door a moment later, taking in the sight of the winged mech. There'd been few Seekers in Haven over the vorns, and all his memories of them back home, up to and including the moment of his death . . . As long ago now as that was, as much as he told himself he was over it, moments like now proved he really wasn't. But he shook his head and stepped back, gesturing invitingly. He'd made a promise, taken a vow, and he'd uphold that regardless of race or faction. Or his own feelings.]

Hey, Jadewing. C'mon in. Let's see what we can do with those rifles for ya.

Oh! [A hand comes up to rub at the back of his head.] S'nothin' special, really. Just a couple of us who've taken vows with Death ta help keep an eye on this place an' everyone who winds up here.

["...in exchange for certain powers", true, but he didn't like to mention that, made ti sound like that's /why/ he did it. It wasn't.]

Sure. I'll be here.

[He's quiet, too, supportive.]

Heh . . . I'll explain when I get there.

[Wheeljack got himself cleaned up and his shop settled, pausing any work that was going on, projects in progress, and headed over.]

Hey, Lea! Hope ya haven't been waitin' long.

Yeah... Upside, they're terribly hard to tip.

[She shrugs.]

Not a lot. I can drive a car okay, but I've spent more time on skidoos.

Hey, Wheeljack. Not too long, no.

Did you wanna see if there's a table we can both sit at? I've really got no problems sitting on the table if we can only find one you guys' size.

[Jadewing hadn't missed the look he'd gotten when the door opened, brief as it was. Until relatively recently, he'd privately been expecting all Autobots he met to display such looks. Wheeljack was not comfortable around him. Well, more likely Seekers in general; as far as he knew, the two of them had never actually met face to face before the preparations to fight Galos, so it was unlikely to be him specifically that Wheeljack had a problem with.

Still, there was no mistaking the awkwardness. Mostly because it was mutual; Jadewing had almost gotten used to interacting with Autobots like they were any other bots, but situations like this brought the awkwardness back in full force. Not to mention there'd have to be a few questions asked for the sake of his trine before they were done here, which was bound to increase it.

But as long as Wheeljack didn't start anything, neither would Jadewing.]

Alright.

[Jadewing headed inside, glancing around at the various gadgets and projects. A few of them looked like they could be weapons, but most of them Jadewing couldn't identify offhand.]

Nice place. Never thought I'd see the inside of your lab. Course, before I wound up in haven, I never really thought I'd want to.

[He smirked slightly, an amused note in his voice.]

Your inventions kinda have a reputation on both sides of the line.

[He'd be a little more shocked by that statement if he'd not already met the other entity.]

And the threats that this place faces. That's no small thing.

What I really appreciate is your availability to meet with us.

Huh.

[He walks around it once, crouches and carefully tips it over to look at it from the underside, sets it upright, and makes one more thoughtful circle.]

I could make this streetworthy if ya'd like. Won't handle exactly the same, but at least it'd be familiar.

Nah, no need. There's a section over in the corner there that's designed for humans an' Cybertronians ta both be able ta sit at. C'mon.

[And sure enough, an area to one side of the room is dominated by a raised dais, about half the height of a second story floor, with massive (to humans) tables along the edge. Cybertronians can sit on one side of the table and humans can either climb stairs at either end or just ask for hands up from their bigger buddies to sit in chairs their own size on the other side of the table.]

[Wheeljack just shrugs.]

It's what we're here for. We tell people we serve the city, but it really means we serve the people of the city. Some of us more directly than others. Like Rathan? He'll see anyone who wants ta see him, but usually you gotta go ta him. Otherwise, he's busy with his magical research an' monitorin' any changes in the Miasma an' the shields we've got up around the borders. Irja's realm is makin' sure the organics are comfortable – watchin' over the livestock, keepin' the plantlife healthy for food as well as breathable atmosphere. Me? I take care of all the tech around the city. I need ta be available so I know what needs doin', ya know?

[That actually got a chuckle out of the old engineer.]

I'm not surprised. I lost count of how many times ol' Megatron tried ta either kidnap me or steal one'a my inventions. [a smirk – or at least, the tone of one in his voice, flanges deepening a shade in the lighting color as they flashed] An' don't worry, I'm not workin' on anythin' right now that's potentially hazardous, if that's what you're worried about. I know I used ta hafta rebuild my lab at least once or twice a vorn, but that's the nature of workin' with experimental armaments an' the like. Sometimes ya just can't assess just how volatile somethin's gonna be until ya go ahead an' try it.

[Of course, being the genius that he was, he also had so many things on in his mind at any given time that sometimes he would plain forget about something, or miss a step in the process which served to unstabilize things in the long run . . . but he wasn't going to be the one to bring up those instances.]

Dude! [It's out in a rush of mixed surprise and delight:] That would be awesome! Wh--would you?

Well, that's convenient.

[And it was. Lea followed Wheeljack over to one of said tables and climbed the stairs up to his seat, getting settled there as Wheeljack got settled into his own. Once they were both seated...]

OK, so I guess the first question is... what's this other cat you were talking about? I mean I've met the one who's actually Death, which is weird enough, but what's this other one?

[He nods] I do. It's still appreciated though. The last...protectors of the city and the people here were...often absent.

It's refreshing to know the Guardians are not only here, but approachable.

Bulkhead had noticed the curious and otherwise people. Really people? Construction sites were risky enough without people trying to cause issues. But he's impressed with the drones that are helping.

He not really surprised if he's been found, he's a little hard to miss. His sensor's picked up Wheeljack's signal. One he didn't recognize. He's gotten used to it, six hundred people here, and he only knows a handful of them that weren't ones that came with him from Haven.

"Yeah, I did it back--" He starts to answer the voice, but stops when he sees the speaker. "...yeah, did work for my last boss."

[Jadewing's smirk broadened slightly.]

So did we. You'd think he'd come up with something more original after awhile...

[And belatedly realizing that when he did, it usually meant nothing good for the Autobots. Oops. Quick, new subject!]

Least you don't test your gadgets on unwitting grunts, though. Mixmaster had a habit of testing new chemical concoctions by mixing them with someone's morning energon ration; usually someone new, who didn't know better than to leave their drink unattended with him around.

[The tone makes it sound like Jadewing has had some personal experience in this regard.]

Sure thing! C'mon, let's get it back to the shop.

[He'll go ahead and pick it up to carry - much easier and faster.]

Heh, you'd think.

[Honestly, Megatron's UNoriginality was the ONLY reason the Autobots survived and did as well as they did more times than anyone cared to admit aloud. The Decepticons /were/ more powerful and often more numerous, after all. By all rights, they probably should have fallen many times over. So if Megs DID come up with something once in a while? He supposed he couldn't get /too/ upset about it, so long as it didn't work out in the end anyway.]

Eeck, yeah, that's . . . [One of the many things that separated the two factions - he'd EXPECT slag like that from a 'Con.] . . . not nice. No, I'd never do that, not intentionally. I won't try somethin' on someone else I haven't tried on myself first.

But anyway . . . you wanted those rifles of yours looked at?

No problem. Just glad we can help.

[And then part of what Wing just said kind of comes back around on him like a boomerang.]

Wait, the last protectors? You mean . . . the First-forged?

((ooc: There was enough going on, though - right then and then all the aftermath - that he may well have forgotten. XD))

[Wheeljack nods.]

Yeah, Death's a good...uh, person. Being. He knows that most people are pretty scared of him - he's got an aura around him he can't help, it's just part of him - so a lotta times when he's visible, he's in a form he knows people aren't afraid of. One of the most common is the Earth cat. Even here, people get pretty used ta the sight of cats, since we've got so many around anyway. The other . . . her name is Sirrah. She's a Guardian too. She's of a race of energy-based lifeforms that call themselves Tej Abri. She looks like a smokey, grey-green cat ghost.
