[Accidental Video]

[The little drone sent to this new arrival has ended up turned on.  She seems to be trying to shoo it away.]  N-no.  No, go away.  Please.  [She's whispering, but the tone is desperate and edged with tears.]
 
[She turns and limps away from the drone, something must be wrong with her right leg.  The drone just...follows.  When the girl glances back and sees it still coming after her she lets out a sound that's something between a frustrated growl and a whimper.]

L-leave me alone.

[Anyone paying special attention to the surroundings the drone shows may note that this child seems to be somewhere close to The Hub, as they'll be able to spot the Warehouse behind her at least once.]

[Lea nodded to her thanks then went to the kitchenette to see about food. On the way, he set the half-forgotten backpack of clothes on the floor by the end of the counter before striping off his coat and gloves, draping them over the back of a kitchen chair.

Opening the refrigerator, he looked over the contents in search of something suitable, frowning slightly at what he saw. Half to himself.]

Man, I need to get groceries...

[Something else to do tomorrow. At least he had juice, so the fluids part would be covered. He got the juice out and set it on the counter, then turned to search the cupboard. Ah! There was a can of chicken noodle soup. Kids liked that, right?]

Is soup OK? 'Fraid I wasn't really expecting guests, so I'm short on some things.

[Even the can gets a funny look.] O-okay.

...what is this place? [she looks around the room again, kind of giving...everything a funny look.]

[Lea nods and starts rummaging through a drawer, looking for a can opener, when he hears her question.]

Hmm? Oh. This is my apartment; it's where I live.

[The funny looks don't go unnoticed either.]

I... take it things here are a lot different than you're used to, huh?

It's.....it's very flat...and sharp.

[Her gaze sweeps the room again before aettling on Lea again.] I live in a den, a...a cave...with my Papa.

[fractalize]

[ Her face brightens, someone has found her, and it's the only person she'd recommend. Elsa shakes her head, still smiling. ]

It's alright, that wasn't your fault. I'm just glad you're alright.

Lea's very kind, I'm sure he'll help you any way you need, all you have to do is ask.


I never got your name, little one.

[That she isn't hoset at Jendayi for worrying her helps the girl relax.]

Jendayi. What's your name?

[Lea chuckles slightly.]

Yeah, this isn't not exactly the most homey design for a building, is it? Back where I come from- a city called Radiant Garden- most people live in wood or stone houses. But the natives here like things made of metal.

[Like themselves, though Lea decides not to go into that yet. Kid has had enough shocks for one day. He fishes out the can opener and starts opening the soup as their conversation continues.]

A cave, huh? Is it nice? I've been in a few caves before, but none of them where anyplace I'd want to live.

It is nice. It's comforable and warm...

[She shifts a bit, looking around again.] ....flat walls look kinda funny.

Jendayi. That's beautiful, I've never heard a name like it.

[ Elsa can't place the origin, she's well read, but still, it gives her no ideas. ]

Elsa. It's good to meet you, Jendayi.

I'm sorry, if I scared you, earlier. I didn't mean to, not at all.

Really phone? "Hoset" in place of "upset"?

[That earns Elsa a little smile. The last makes her drop her gaze.]

I...I'm sorry. It's...Papa ways warned me that humans would try to kill me. [And some had, shortly before she showed up here...]

[ Elsa doesn't know how to field that, only until she stops and thinks about it. ]

...That's very strange, that they'd want to kill a child. But I guess I shouldn't say anything; I found myself in a very similar situation when I was a child myself.

I was worried everyone would be scared of me, and...well, when people are scared of things, they'll...you know.

I KNOW!

[Jendayi peeks up at her drone's screen again.] People were acared of you? Why?

[fractalize]

[ Elsa's hesitant to indulge, but. She's on the other side of the screen. It can't hurt, right? ]

Well. I was born with the power to control...ice. Ice and snow.

My parents were very scared that I'd hurt someone some day on accident, so, we didn't tell anyone. Then I did; I hurt my sister.


I stayed inside, in my room. I almost never came out. I worried that I'd hurt someone else, like my parents, or that everyone would be scared of me. Back then, I thought they were.

[Elsa will see the last of the tension melt away from the little girl. After all of that she only says.]

....I can control air.

[ Elsa's mild look of surprise cracks a small smile. Don't look too excited!! ]

That's incredible, out of all the people I've met here, I've never met someone who controls air. I mean, ice and snow sometimes makes the wind blow because of the temperature, but...

What do you like to do with it?

[ Because come on that's seriously neat, and that's the only question she'd have wanted someone to ask her as a child. ]

[That's a little smile.]

I'm trying to get stronger so I can fly. Papa says I'll be able to if I keep practicing. I like making pictures with dust and leaves and stuff too.

[ Elsa continued to brighten, the smile only widening. ]

Flying...

Goodness. I can't imagine. I'd help you if I could, but...I don't know how.

Lea helped me control my powers when I was scared to. I don't know if your powers work the same way...

He did? [She looks over at the man she's staying with.] How?

[fractalize]

[ Elsa looks slightly scandalized; maybe Lea didn't tell her yet. She wouldn't go into specifics then. ]

He taught me to let out my feelings, so I didn't bottle them up. When I bottled them up and I tried making my powers go away, then I only lost control of them.

[ She adjusts the drone, and the camera pans across a beautiful study, made nearly entirely of ice. ]

Now I can do things like this.

[She gasps.] Whoa....

[And then she grins!] Did you make that?!

[ OH NO FEELINGS She remembers Anna being so excited to build snowmen, and it makes her laugh a little bit. ]

I think if I can do this, then you can learn to fly.

That's good. Most places I've lived for awhile have been kinda short on the 'comfort' side of things. This one's actually the nicest place I've had in awhile.

[The can open, he set the top aside and began looking for a pot to heat it in.]

You'll probly get used to the flat walls after a little while. Most buildings around here are like that, unless you go out to the ruins. Which I really don't recommend for someone your age, by the way. They're dangerous and not always that stable.
