[accidental video]

[It's been a few days since the end of the explosions that have been following him and others throughout the place. Jetstorm wasn't alone during that time, not entirely, but now that it's over, he's getting time to think about what all has happened. Who he was left with, the world he finds himself in now, the idea that they could all find themselves under attack again at any time, for any or no reason at all.]

I am a warrior.

[Where he is now isn't clear, but by the absence of sound in the room but for what Jetstorm himself makes, it's clear he's alone. If his feet could wear a path in the ground walking the same circle over and over, they would. There is no indication for how long he has been walking like this, one end of his nunchucks in each hand as if he thought he might need it. He seems fretful as he argues with himself, and completely oblivious to the little drone close by, silently recording everything.]

I am strong. I am swift.

[His hands lower and he doesn't seem to notice it or care. One hand lets go of a grip to reach up and rub down his face. A few paces later, his other hand goes a little too slack and his weapon goes down to the ground with a clatter. The Minicon looks down at it in horror with a cry.]

Ah! No!

[In a rush, he darts down to retrieve his nunchucks and clutches them in front of him again, grip renewed. One hand pulls into his subspace to retrieve the only other item he has ever carried on his person: a cleaning cloth. With a whimper, he steps over to sit down on a small stool that may or may not have been for a bot his size, or perhaps for a human, and begins to methodically wipe down his weapon from one end to the other, always in small, counter clockwise circles.]

Most humble apologies, Master Drift.

[But his fingers are trembling. He misses spots, only to go back and work over them again.]

I am strong... I am...

[Finally, he gives in and hugs his knees to himself, pinning his nunchucks against him, and shivers.]

Good, good. Here we go.

[And moments after Sam secures her helmet, they do go, starting off slow and gaining speed only gradually. Despite Jetstorm's weight, the stree'doo seems to be bearing up alright.]

[So far, so good. He'd take a better look at this thing if he thought he could do so while they're riding around on it, and it does make him feel more than a little awkward, but eventually it'll get faster than he can run, and he can't really complain. This is pretty neat.]

[It's neater yet when they hit a good clip, and the higher speed illustrates one advantage the stree'doo has over an actual motorcycle; its stability, even with all the weight atop it.]

[This is... actually really neat. He's always been used to the world rushing by from the speed of his own two legs, or the feeling of motion from within his pod form, where he has no visual sensory input, as experienced from within his Master's vehicle form, but he's never seen it for himself. It's fascinating, for sure. He'll find himself looking all around at everything, watching it rush by, feeling a little thrill at it.]

Do you travel around using this device often?

Yeah.

[She has to raise her voice on account of the engine noise and her helmet's muffling effect, but it's a non-issue; she can be loud, if inclined.]

Not fast on my feet, and besides! The novelty of driving dry in warm weather's not worn off.

[Strange, a little. Maybe. Okay, a bit.]

You do not have these things where you were?

Sorta! We have 'em, but we have 'em outfitted for driving on snow and ice---skis, instead of wheels. There are some for water, too, but I never drove one.

Ah. [Something to ponder later. It's neat, but hopefully Cybertron doesn't have anything like that here. Then again, the organic life kinda needs it, but the rust that'll come with... Ugh.]

[Sam would nod, but. There's that whole sitting back-to-back. With the clip they're traveling at, it doesn't take long to reach a Gateway, though it's a brief stop to actually utilize the thing.]

Doin' alright with my driving?

[They stop, and Jetstorm has been looking around enough to take notice of the portal. It's not the first time he's seen one, but it's something he'll need to use in the future, he's sure.]

Yes. If I had the ability to travel like this, I would do so as often as I possibly could. At least, for a while.

[Hm. But that portal...] I have heard those called portals. Are they groundbridges?

You could always ask Wheeljack? When he and I were first talking about transportation, he took me through the Warehouse until I saw something I liked, and I'm sure he wouldn't mind doing the same for someone else.

[Now Sam nods.]

Yep! Or, so I was told; I've heard 'groundbridge,' I've heard 'gateway.'

[Don't mind that look on him.] Who is Wheeljack? I have heard that designation before, but I do not recall.

Chief Engineer, here, and one of the Guardians.

[Even as they're moving on again---and again starting slow---she continues.]

He helped us get the theatre set up, too. Very friendly, very accommodating.

Perhaps I should speak with him.

[Maybe.]

You totally should. At the very least, he's a good person to know---and to be able to refer other people to.

I would have to eventually anyway, yes? Where are all of the Guardians? I have met one, in the medbay.

Well, maybe not have to, but the odds are good. There's Wheeljack at the Hub, Irja at the farm, Rathan in the ruins out West... That's not all the Guardians, but those are the ones I know where to find.

I was told they are the ones who keep the Miasma out of the city. How do we help them?

...I haven't really gotten into that as of yet, since I've been paying more attention to helping the people who've come here since I came, and trying to pay back the people who've helped me.

[Legit aims? Of course. Still, she sounds a little sheepish.]

[He can understand that. He's still not sure what to do about Breakdown himself. What does he know about paying someone back other than attaching himself to them - literally - and becoming their student?]

I can understand. There are other things I would like to do with my time here, but I am not sure if it is me overreaching beyond what are my limits or if I am not reaching far enough.

[Though that gives him an idea, since she brought it up.]

Do you know Breakdown?

Hard to reach too far if you're hoping to help, in my own opinion.

[As they're coming up to the Library, Sam slows the stree'doo, stopping it beside the building so that it's out of anybody else's way.]

I do!

[She dismounts and removes her helmet, revealing a sunny smile.]

Since he showed up, actually. Good friend of mine.

[That was... interesting, to say the least. Too bad he can't do it under his own steam like a normal Cybertronian. At least he didn't have to kiss the pavement to save her vehicle though. He'll wait until she's got it at a stop and removed herself before he caaaaaarefully gets off it himself.]

He... did something for me I did not expect of a Decepticon when I came here. Do you think I should do something for him, to repay his kindness?

[Once Jetstorm is off, Sam pauses to stow her helmet in the stree'doo's storage compartment. She considers briefly, then nods.]

It's a nice thought, so yeah. Yeah, I'd say you should go for it. Why not? I don't think he'd expect it, but I'm sure he'd appreciate it.

You got anything in mind?

[He really should make himself a To Do list, shouldn't he?]

I do not. I do not know him, or what he would appreciate, or if he would. I do not know if it would be appropriate or if I should at all. I do not think we are even friends. But he has risked himself for me and he let me into his home.

[Maybe that ought to be the gift of appreciation itself.] Or maybe I should find a new home. Do you think he would like that?

[Couldn't hurt.]

You remember when you first got here and I mentioned we tend to muddle through by meaning well? This sort of falls under that. Is it appropriate? I think so. One good turn deserves another, and all. As for what he'd appreciate...

I'd wait on moving out, since that might send the wrong signal. Have there been hints dropped about it, or anything...?
