[accidental video]

[It's been a few days since the end of the explosions that have been following him and others throughout the place. Jetstorm wasn't alone during that time, not entirely, but now that it's over, he's getting time to think about what all has happened. Who he was left with, the world he finds himself in now, the idea that they could all find themselves under attack again at any time, for any or no reason at all.]

I am a warrior.

[Where he is now isn't clear, but by the absence of sound in the room but for what Jetstorm himself makes, it's clear he's alone. If his feet could wear a path in the ground walking the same circle over and over, they would. There is no indication for how long he has been walking like this, one end of his nunchucks in each hand as if he thought he might need it. He seems fretful as he argues with himself, and completely oblivious to the little drone close by, silently recording everything.]

I am strong. I am swift.

[His hands lower and he doesn't seem to notice it or care. One hand lets go of a grip to reach up and rub down his face. A few paces later, his other hand goes a little too slack and his weapon goes down to the ground with a clatter. The Minicon looks down at it in horror with a cry.]

Ah! No!

[In a rush, he darts down to retrieve his nunchucks and clutches them in front of him again, grip renewed. One hand pulls into his subspace to retrieve the only other item he has ever carried on his person: a cleaning cloth. With a whimper, he steps over to sit down on a small stool that may or may not have been for a bot his size, or perhaps for a human, and begins to methodically wipe down his weapon from one end to the other, always in small, counter clockwise circles.]

Most humble apologies, Master Drift.

[But his fingers are trembling. He misses spots, only to go back and work over them again.]

I am strong... I am...

[Finally, he gives in and hugs his knees to himself, pinning his nunchucks against him, and shivers.]

Is your... roomie... another human? I wonder if I might happen upon a Cybertronian one day who would seem to be from my own world, but we also have known different histories.

[This is intense. Are there really any ends to the possibilities?]

He is. Name's Hiro Hamada, skinny kid, messy hair, and when you meet him he'll probably have a hundred questions for you.

Odds of it aren't bad.

I have not seen him, but if I am here long enough, I may.

Has anyone ever managed to leave this place? To return home?

I'm honestly sort of surprised you haven't already, but only sort of. When he's into working on a project, he's really into it.

[Sam draws a slow breath, biting at her lip as she weighs an answer.]

I'm told it has happened, at times, with people being 'reclaimed' by the miasma we arrived through... but I'm not aware of anyone managing to get home under their own power. I'm sorry; I really, really wish it were otherwise.

[That sounds like someone he knows. He gets it.]

In truth, I do not know if I would try to return or if I would stay here, had I the power to do either. I would not have known anyone here were it not for what happened to me to get me here, but I do worry about everyone back where I am from. But I know that they will be just fine without me. Master Drift is with them.

[A crooked little smile surfaces at that---Jetstorm must value his new acquaintances highly indeed, to be uncertain so soon.]

Aw, it sounds like the people here have made quite an impression on you already.

[One moment while he thinks on that.]

I arrived here in the middle of an attack on everyone. Strangers to me risked their lives to help me and a small human child. A Decepticon came to me and took me to get help when I was injured, and then he offered me a space in his shelter. These are not kindnesses to be taken or given lightly. I do not think I should be in a hurry to leave everyone here behind me.

When I say the best part of being here's the people, it's no exaggeration. Being here, it has its challenges, but whatever comes up? You don't have to deal with alone.

[There's no small relief in that, to hear it said by someone he more or less can trust. He knew it himself, but now and then in this world he can still look around himself and has to rethink everything.]

I am glad to hear that. A part of me knows it already, but another part of me has had great difficulty believing it. I hope to find a resolution to my internal conflicts soon.

The whole situation is a serious suspension of disbelief, so don't beat yourself up over the time it takes to get fully grounded.

And, y'know, feel free to talk to me any time.

I should be better than this. I should not wither at the prospect of being alone in this world. My Master trained me to face anything, and yet... I slip.

But I am grateful for your offer.

Don't beat yourself up over that, either. Nobody's perfect, and from everything I've seen? Cybertronians are like humans insofar as they are pretty social creatures, so it would be daunting for almost anyone... and you are less alone than it feels like.

My Master would be very disappointed if he could see me now. It is not about perfection of character, as no one can truly attain this, but about seeking the perfection of character. And I do not always succeed in this. But... it does help that I am not completely alone. I am loathe to think of what I might do if I were here with not a spark around.

[What would his Master say about that, he wonders.]

Speaking of this master of yours---he doesn't have any tie to the Drift here, does he?

[The Drift here isn't currently a part of a team, so far as she knows... and while she hasn't spent as much time with the mech as she'd like, they time they've spent in each other's company isn't insignificant---she surely would have heard something.]

No. The Drift that I have met here does not seem at all like my Master, so I can only assume they are different bots.

[By comparison, he hasn't spent really any time with the Drift here at all, so he doesn't really know if they're similar or not in any ways. So far, it doesn't really seem so, with the exception that they try to be helpful, in their own ways.]

[Is 'Drift' comparable to 'John' or 'Scott,' then? Maybe; she hasn't really learned a lot about Cybertronian naming conventions, though Cybertronian names have started to sound less strange.]

If that's not enough to put you off the idea, you could always come along with us whenever we hit up the library again...? We kind of have this ongoing research project goin' together.

[He honestly would not know. He hasn't really met with duplicate names until now. But the idea of going to the library doesn't seem like a bad idea. He's already come to regret not studying the histories as thoroughly as he should have. Now might be a good time to catch up on that, or at least for this world.]

I would be happy to go with you. There are many things I would like to know, if I can while I am here.

[Someday, they'll discuss this... but today, they've destinations to discuss.]

Would you like to go now? I'm not doing anything, really. And I think you should be able to fit on my ride, so I can pick you up, no problem.

If now is a good time. I would not mind. Is there a place where I can meet you?

Well, where are you now?

[He doesn't know how to describe it, since it's not anything special, so he'll just send the coordinates like he did with Breakdown. He's not too far from there anyway.]

It is not far from the city. I did not want to risk finding the Miasma.

Okay. I'll be there in a little while.

[And he will, he'll be sitting out on the walkway out in front of the little warehouse he'd been in, situated as though he meant to meditate and isn't quite concentrating on it.]

[It is a while, but eventually the hrrrnrrr of its engine announces Sam's Polaris' approach. The adept is helmeted, but still easily identified---there aren't many human females active on the comm network, after all, and she waves and shouts as soon as she spys Jetstorm.]

Yo!

[Slowing to a stop, she puts the stree'doo in park and stands, pulling her helmet off before stepping over to offer the minicon her hand.]

Nice to meet you properly, in person.

[He doesn't mind the waiting. It gives him time to think and... he has much he needs to think about. If only he could clear his mind.]

[That vehicle she's using to approach him, it's... unique, to be sure, but he won't remark on it. He then gets himself to his feet when she hops off to come at him, bro. He's not so confused this time about the hand gesture and he reaches out to take it. And now that he sees her up close, he can make better sense of the strange marks on her. And he has no idea what they are.]

It is nice to meet you in person as well. You are... [headtilt] covered in strange markings.
